A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 was recorded off the southwestern coast of Zakynthos early this morning, prompting brief concern but no reports of damage or injuries. According to the National Observatory of Athens, the tremor occurred at 5:49 a.m. local time, with an epicenter located 12 kilometers west-southwest of Keri, at a depth of 18 kilometers.
The quake was felt mildly across the island, particularly in coastal areas, where some residents reported a brief jolt during the early hours. However, there was no cause for alarm, and life on the island quickly returned to normal.
