Announcement from DEYAZ in regard to the quality of our water

​The following announcement was made by our waterboard DEYAZ:- 
Taking into account the concerns expressed in recent days on social media regarding water quality, we want to give an honest and clear answer.

🔹 The salinization of water is a reality that Zakynthos has been facing for decades.

We do not hide it.

This year, however, and it is worth emphasizing, we have more water available in the network compared to previous years.

With systematic control, repairs, new drilling and better management, we have significantly reduced water supply interruptions, especially in areas that remained "dry" every summer.

🔹 The water is systematically tested by certified laboratories.

The analyzes are publicly uploaded to the D.E.Y.A.Z website at regular intervals.

Any point that presents deviations in turbidity or other parameters is isolated or technically reinforced.

We do not play politics with the health of citizens.

On the contrary, transparency and prevention are basic principles for us.

🔹 Regarding the issue of asbestos pipes, let us clarify:

We are not talking about actively dangerous material in motion.

In networks where there is old asbestos, there is a replacement program and funding is being sought.

🔹Concerns such as those expressed by citizens, even when they are intense, motivate us.

However, well-intentioned criticism is one thing, and exaggerations and generalizations that cause panic or devalue the overall effort are another.

D.E.Y.A.Z. is an organization in constant battle:

with summer overconsumption, with aging networks, with decades of pathogens.

But this year we proved that we can do better.

And we will continue.

Cooperation with the Municipality of Zakynthos, the Municipal Authority and the Mayor of Zakynthos, but also with the citizens themselves, is the only way to improve our daily lives.
